Dad’s Do Dinner!

A Memorable Father’s Day Feast-

thumb_IMG_6161_1024

It’s Dad’s month to be pampered and we have it covered with a lavish, manly feast, courtesy of his loved ones for Father’s Day. Make Dad king for a day, give him a royal seat and serve him a special dinner using decorative touches from these local East Bay vendors:

Grapes and Grains, Daisy Dig’ins, Alfred’s Consignment, and the Regency Cigar Emporium.

Theme:

The king is served as medieval royalty with overflowing portions.  Each father wears a paper crown decorated with his name. Have the children decorate the crowns and a “cape” or special chair as his throne.

Table Scheme:

Primitive elegance complete with rustic tableware, vases filled with pillar candles, ferns and greens tousled and mingled with beach rocks of various sizes, goblet-style glasses- dark brown, rum raisin and earth tones with splashes of chartreuse green. Empty cigar boxes used as pillars to display decorations with silver plated accents and crystal decanters.

Finishing Touches:

Framed photos of dad growing up, his father, his heroes. Have his children and younger ones serve The King and clear plates between courses.

Provisions:

<>Grapes and Grains: Archita-Primativo, 2011 and The Arsonist -2012 Red Blend, wines to perfectly compliment overflowing portions of a surf and turf dinner with bold, full-bodied complexity.

Décor:

Alfred’s: silver plated decanter labels from Newport and silver Ralph Lauren wine plates.
Dasiy Dig’ins: Faux greenery, chartreuse candles, clear goblet glasses and rustic rattan table runner.
The Regency Cigar Emporium: An assortment of decorative cigar boxes.

For Your Ears Only:

Mad Men Pandora mixed in with Cold Play.

Before dinner, make sure you roast this special man with saying what makes him outstanding, reciting his favorite “isms” and watch him grin. Write out on large card stock for a memorable visual. Take this party outdoors or in, include his friends and their families for a truly memorable occasion.

Happy Fathers Day to all!
